How Semi-Flexible Solar Panels Power a Smarter Outdoor Umbrella

A solar umbrella has to do more than place a conventional panel above a table. The energy system must follow the form of the canopy, tolerate outdoor use and supply useful power without making the umbrella difficult to operate. Semi-flexible photovoltaic technology makes that integration possible.

What “semi-flexible” means

Solargy’s photovoltaic packaging process divides conventional solar cells into smaller sections and re-encapsulates them with flexible materials. The module structure uses materials such as EVA, PET, monocrystalline solar cells and transparent TPT. Together, they support light transmission, sealing and durability while allowing the finished module to bend to a practical degree.

This structure is especially valuable on outdoor products. Compared with a rigid glass panel, a semi-flexible module is lighter and better able to follow the geometry of an umbrella canopy. The packaged module is also designed for water- and dust-resistant outdoor use.

From sunlight to useful outdoor power

The solar module converts sunlight into electricity and charges an integrated battery. Stored energy can then support the umbrella’s configured functions, including a central fan, LED lighting, Bluetooth audio and USB output.

In the latest product lineup, ZL02-90, ZL03-100 and ZL04-90 use 20W semi-flexible photovoltaic modules, while the larger ZL01-105 uses a 40W module. ZL01-90 is supplied without solar power as standard, and the wind-resistant ZL01P-90 can be discussed with optional solar power and a central light.
